Time Flies!

It’s been months since my last post! Life is fast and busy with a young son. He’s learning so many new things and exploring every corner of our home. He’s proved smarter than our baby proofing for sure! Speaking of our home- the next home we build will definitely be more kid friendly. A play-room will be my first “kidition”, and more mud room space in the laundry room. When building a home, it’s important to “think ahead” about weather children or even grandchildren will ever come into the picture. Do you need more family room space? A utility sink? A large bar next to the kitchen for kids to pull a stool up to to “talk”? The greatest conversations I ever had with my parents were in the kitchen. Its important to reflect on your childhood and remember as a child the gathering areas. For my son, we need a race track around the house~ he’s definitely an “active child”!

TJ is home and doing great. Almost back to business as usual! Blessing for today: Cody and Mary Kate Pugh’s smooth closing on their new home in Browns Crossing Subdivision in Limestone County. They are close friends of ours who will be married shortly and start their life together in October! The best part about our business is the smiles you see across the closing table. Thanks to Moore and Helms Atty, as always for the easy and entertaining closing! There is no greater feeling than knowing the following about how you live and work:
You do what you say you will do. You do it well and you love it. This is why we build homes.

Warranty Issue! Cardio on the Fritz!

Just like a new home- Our bodies also have warranty issues! Sweet TJ is currently in the hospital recouping from a new blood clot in the leg from a surgery last year. I wish we could “repair” this as easy as calling an AC man to “repair” a malfunctioning unit. Fortunately, we have the greatest Dr., the Lord, guiding the hands of the Drs. at the hospital to heal TJ as quickly as possible!
Today’s Blessings:
TJ is alive, my family, friends and “church family” at Lindsay Lane. Also, my office manager Sarah- who holds down the fort for Brown and Meers beautifully during life’s Warranty Issues!

Building us! The footing….and Why am I blogging?

I have chosen the “blueprints” of my blog, “cleared the lot”, (my mind), and am ready to “pour the slab” and begin to write! Although my favorite part of the construction of a new home is the framing process, (I am partial to the smell of wood!), the most important key to a structurally sound home is the foundation! A weak foundation will collapse the walls of any beautiful home. So here is the formula for the concrete used in my “slab”:

Jesus Christ first, Family and Friends Second and Blessings Third! I love the Lord, sin every day, recognize that he died for me and look to him to forgive me of my EVERYDAY shortcomings. There is no greater comfort in my life than knowing that when I die- I will live in heaven with My God and all those I love who are saved too! Heaven will be the ultimate subdivision in which to build! He also gives me everyday peace and hope and that although my life has no promises and has and will continue to be challenging- it will also be filled with blessings. I will share my blessings here! By the way- just the fact that I woke up this morning is blessing number one.

Every morning I wake up and kiss the three leading men in my life:

My husband TJ, my son Hudson and my min pin Baxter. All three have my number and know it. I soak it in. I appreciate the knowledge that nothing lasts forever. I am a cancer survivor, I know this very well!

My mother Beverly Brown and late father Richard, created a career legacy in the Real Estate business over 30 years ago. From Richard Brown Homes and Land to now Brown and Meers Homes, we are a small family business with many interests! We build homes, develop property, remodel pre-existing homes, own rental property and TJ is a Real Estate Broker as well as a General Contractor. Its an exciting business to be immersed in as it involves a triangle of things I LOVE:

People, Problem-Solving and Multi-Tasking

We have a cozy, “come on in”, office and most thrilling for TJ and I is the ability to be “hands on” with our customers! You can meet and speak with us directly, which we both feel is so important to customer service. We create relationships with our customers and our reward is the hug and smile we get when our newest “member” of the Brown and Meers Family is fulfilled!

So why am I blogging? Simple- Insight and Testimony. I want to provide insight to our family, friends and customers about who we are as a family and a company as well as share our precious testimony of faith along the way!

Three Quick Facts about me:

I have a huge sense of humor (favorite activity is laughing), I have a Hugely Empathetic Heart and Interior Design gives me butterflies.
